## Antifoul Coatings for Hulls in Kadina and Wallaroo

Marine growth on a hull doesn't just look untidy — it adds drag, cuts fuel economy and can affect handling. A properly applied [antifoul coating](https://www.sawleysautoandmarine.com.au/collections/anti-foul-marine-growth-protection) protects the hull from weed, barnacles and other marine growth, keeping the boat running efficiently between haul-outs, often applied over a [hull sealing and painting](https://www.sawleysautoandmarine.com.au/pages/hull-sealing-painting) barrier coat on older or repaired hulls.

### What the Service Involves

Antifoul work starts with the vessel out of the water, usually on the slipway at Wallaroo Marina. The hull is washed down and inspected, existing growth and any flaking or failed coating is removed, and the surface is prepared so the new antifoul bonds properly. Any bare or damaged areas are treated before coating, and antifoul is then applied evenly across the hull below the waterline, including around fittings and running gear. Many customers combine this with [Propspeed](https://www.sawleysautoandmarine.com.au/pages/propspeed) on propellers and running gear at the same haul-out.

### Which Vessels Need It

Antifoul is relevant to any vessel that spends extended time in the water, from trailer boats moored over summer through to vessels kept permanently on a marina berth. Boats that are trailered and stored dry between trips generally need it less often than those left in the water.

### Where We Work

Hull preparation and antifoul application are carried out with the vessel hauled out at Wallaroo Marina.

### When to Book It In

How often a hull needs antifoul depends on how the boat is used and where it's kept — vessels left in the water year-round need it more often than those trailered and stored. Leaving it too long allows growth to build up, which is harder and more costly to remove than staying ahead of it with regular coats. It's worth booking your haul-out and antifoul well ahead of the season, since slipway time gets busy over spring and summer.

### What to Expect

Let us know the vessel's length and current antifoul type when booking, as this helps us prepare the right coating system for your hull.
