This is a genuine Volvo Penta faucet (drain tap/cock) from the cooling system group, used as a shut-off and draining point in engine coolant and raw water circuits. This version is the 15 mm diameter (D=15mm) variant, which is what separates it from otherwise similarly named taps, so confirm the size before ordering. It is the current replacement for the earlier slide valve part number 828238.

## 🔌 Function

The faucet acts as a manually operated shut-off and drain point, allowing coolant or raw water to be isolated or drained from the cooling circuit during service, winterisation or system flushing. When closed it seals the circuit against leakage under normal operating pressure.

## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Fit the valve so the handle is accessible and can swing through its full travel, and so any flow direction marking on the body is respected
-   Hold the valve body with a spanner while tightening pipework into it, rather than taking the load through the valve itself
-   Use only a sealing method suited to the thread form, applied sparingly so nothing can be carried into the bore
-   Open and close the valve fully several times after fitting and check for leaks under working pressure; a ball valve should be left fully open or fully shut, never part open as a throttle
-   Exercise the valve at regular intervals in service — the one left in the same position all season is the one that seizes when you need it
