## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta cooling water intake for 50 mm internal diameter hose - the largest of the five intakes listed. It weighs 5.91 kg and is listed for 109 applications across the D6, D8, D9 and D11 ranges. The intake is a through-hull fitting with a strainer installed through the bottom of the hull, supplied complete with the fitting and strainer, fittings for the pipe connection, a shut-off valve and hose clips. On a motor boat the strainer is directed forward so that seawater is forced up into the system under way; on a sailing boat it is directed aft so seawater is not forced in while sailing with the engine shut down.

## 🔌 Function

Takes raw water in from outside the hull and channels it into the engine's seawater cooling circuit for delivery to the seawater pump and heat exchanger.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

-   Water leaking or weeping at the intake body or hose connection
-   Reduced raw water flow and rising engine temperature
-   Corrosion, pitting or erosion of the intake housing
-   Silt, weed or marine growth blocking the strainer
-   Cracks or distortion at the mounting or hose spigot, so the joint will not seal

## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Close the shut-off valve when the boat is being towed, and before any work on the intake
-   Order by hose bore - 3587668 is the 38 mm intake and 1140129 the 32 mm
-   On a motor boat point the strainer forward; on a sailing boat point it aft so water is not forced in under sail
-   When a motor boat is being towed, the shut-off valve must be closed
