-   After assembly, measure crankshaft end float with a dial gauge before final tightening; if float falls outside the workshop manual limit, check washer thickness and seating rather than forcing the assembly together.
-   Renew together with the inner thrust washer as a full set - fitting only the outer washer while leaving a worn inner washer in place will not restore correct end float.
