-   Offer the pipe up and align both ends before pulling any fastener tight, so the joints are not held together by strain from a misaligned pipe or an over-stretched hose
-   Check the bore is clear of scale, sealant and debris before fitting, and inspect the pipe for internal corrosion or thinning if the old one was leaking
-   Refill with the coolant type and mix specified for your engine, bleed the system through, then check the joints again with the engine hot and up to pressure
