**Faria Chesapeake White 4″ Tacho/Hour Meter 7000rpm (Outboard) - Part Number: 204606**

Featuring a perimeter-lighted White dial with stylish Blue and White graphics, a polished stainless steel bezel, a contoured White pointer, and a domed glass lens.

Electronic tachometers work by counting pulses generated by the ignition system, alternator, tach signal generator or magnetic pickup sender. The tach is hooked up to +12V DC, ground and one of these signal sources; by selecting the right tach and setting the switch on the back to the correct position, the tachometer knows how many pulses are sent per engine revolution.

The hour meter operates by applying battery voltage across the gauge's register motor to ground; the register increments while the key switch is on. Routing power through a normally open oil pressure switch counts only ‘engine running' hours.
