-   Check pulley alignment and the condition of the tensioner, idler and their bearings while the belt is off
-   Tension the belt by the method and to the deflection given in the workshop manual for your engine, then run the engine, stop it and re-check; a new belt beds in and loses tension quickly
-   Where two or more belts drive together, renew them as a matched set so the load stays shared
