A genuine Volvo Penta upper-engine sealing strip used around the cylinder-head or valve-cover joint on selected D16-based engines. It retains lubricating oil in the valvetrain area and prevents dirt and moisture entering the upper engine.

-   Recurring leakage caused by warped covers or incorrect installation

## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Strip the old sealing strip and any adhesive residue off completely and degrease the channel or face so the new strip beds onto clean metal
-   Offer the strip up dry and cut it to length in place; do not stretch it to fit, or it will pull back and open a gap at the joint
-   Press the strip fully into its groove or against its face along the whole run, working from one end and taking care at corners so it is not bridged, pinched or twisted
-   Where the strip seals a cover or panel, tighten the fixings evenly and only as far as specified, so the strip is compressed rather than crushed or squeezed out of its seat
-   Recheck the joint after the first run and once the unit has been through a heat cycle, as a strip settles and the fixings may need checking again
