-   Where several cushions support one component, renew them as a set so the load shares evenly; a single new cushion alongside aged ones carries more than its share
-   Check the bracket, spacer, washers and fasteners at the same time — a cushion that has failed early usually points to a loose fastener, a missing spacer or corrosion in the mounting
-   Renew aged cushions whenever the component they support is disturbed; old rubber takes a permanent set and will not recover
