-   Establish why the old pump failed and fit new fuel filters at the same time — water or debris in the tank will take out the replacement too
-   Prime and bleed the system by the procedure for your engine before cranking, and do not run a diesel pump dry
-   Check every joint you disturbed for leaks with the engine running, and again once it has been up to temperature
