# 21088654 Cover Plate | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Brand-new genuine Volvo Penta electrical cover plate used in the engine wiring-harness and control-component installation on TAD5 and TAD7 generator engines. The plate closes and protects the designated harness/connector area while providing the original mounting surface for adjoining electrical hardware.

## 🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

- Volvo Penta TAD550GE
- Volvo Penta TAD551GE

- **Engine Family:** TAD

## ⚙️ Key Features

- Protective plate for the engine electrical and wiring-harness installation
- Factory hole pattern and edge profile
- Shields connectors and cable routing from debris and accidental contact
- Maintains the designed support for adjoining electrical components
- Plate only; harness, fasteners and connectors are separate
- Engine type: Volvo Penta 5- and 7-litre generator-set diesel

## 🔌 Function

Covers and supports the specified electrical installation, protecting wiring and connectors while preserving the factory mounting arrangement.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Plate cracked, bent or missing
- Harness or connectors exposed to debris
- Wiring chafing against an unprotected edge
- Loose electrical components or rattling
- Corrosion around the mounting points

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Clean both faces and remove all of the old gasket or sealant before refitting; a cover plate only seals if it sits flat on a clean face
- Check the plate for distortion around the fixing holes and renew it if the flange has been pulled out of shape
- Fit a new gasket, seal or O-ring rather than reusing the old one, and use sealant only where the manual for your engine calls for it
- Tighten evenly and progressively to the figures in the workshop manual — these covers are thin and easily bowed by pulling one fixing up first
- Check for weeps once the engine has been run up to temperature and allowed to cool
