-   Clean every terminal and earth face to bright metal and tighten to the specified figure, then protect the joint — a poor earth shows up later as a dozen unrelated electrical faults
-   Fit the kit complete, including its fuses, holders, boots, seals and ties; those protective parts are what make it a marine installation rather than just wire
-   Leave a little slack across flexible mountings, reconnect the batteries last, and check the affected circuits through before closing everything up
