-   Check the cap's seal is soft and unbroken, and that any vent or breather hole through the cap is clear
-   Seat the cap fully, to its stop or lock position — a cap left part-turned will weep, and on a pressurised system can lift
-   Never open a cap on a hot pressurised system; let it cool first
