-   Check the seat, bore or housing the valve fits into for corrosion, scoring or distortion; a valve only seals as well as the face it beds on
-   Tighten fixings and threaded connections to the figures and in the order given in the workshop manual for your engine — a valve body is easily distorted by overtightening
-   After fitting, bleed or refill the system as required, then run the engine and check the valve for leaks and for correct operation before the boat is used
