Genuine Volvo Penta dry exhaust pipe used in D16C-A MG and D16C-A MG RC marine generating-set installations. The heavy-wall pipe carries turbine-outlet exhaust gas into the vessel exhaust system and must remain correctly supported and gas-tight under high temperature cycling.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

-   Soot staining or exhaust gas leakage at a flange
-   Cracking near welds, bends or supports
-   Abnormal exhaust noise or odour in the engine space
-   Restriction, internal collapse or excessive back pressure

## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Fit new gaskets and seals at every joint you disturb; exhaust gaskets take a set once they have been heat-cycled and will not seal a second time
-   Clean the flange faces back to bare, flat metal and check them for distortion and pitting — a warped face will blow out a new gasket however hard it is pulled up
-   Renew corroded studs and nuts, use a high-temperature anti-seize on the threads, and tighten in the sequence and to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine; recheck once the engine has been run up to temperature and allowed to cool, because the joint relaxes over the first few heat cycles
-   Support the pipe on its own mountings so nothing hangs on the flange and no hose pull is taken through the joint, and keep the specified clearance to hoses, wiring and glassfibre
-   On water-cooled sections, check the cooling passages are clear and the water connections sound before running — a restricted jacket will cook the pipe and the hose behind it
