-   Make sure the mating surfaces are clean and flat and that the part seats fully; packing out a bracket that does not fit puts bending load into it and into whatever it supports
-   Fit new fasteners, washers and locking devices where the original arrangement used them, and tighten to the torque given in the workshop manual for your engine
-   Where the anchorage includes a rubber element, keep oil, fuel and solvents off it, and renew it if it is softened, oil-swollen, split or collapsed
-   Check the alignment of whatever the anchorage supports after fitting, and recheck the fasteners after the first period of running
