## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Close the seacock before starting work, and make sure it is fully open again before the engine is started
-   Never let the pump run dry — an impeller can be ruined in seconds without water, so fill the strainer or pour water into the pump housing to help it pick up prime after fitting
-   Renew the O-rings, gaskets and hose clips on refitting, and check the hoses and strainer for perishing, softening and blockage while access is good
-   Check drive belt condition and pulley alignment where the pump is belt driven, and turn the engine over by hand before starting to be sure nothing binds
-   Start up and confirm a strong, steady discharge with the exhaust water, then check the pump body and joints for weeps and check again after the first proper run
