-   Check clearance all round with the engine stopped, then look for rub marks after the first run — a screen touching a belt, pulley or pipe does more harm than no screen at all
-   Renew a screen that is cracked, distorted or has lost a mounting point rather than straightening it, and replace missing bushes so the fasteners are not clamped down onto bare metal
