## 🔌 Function

Carries movement from the helm control head to the engine's throttle lever or the reversing gear's shift lever, pushing and pulling a sliding inner wire inside a fixed outer conduit so that the lever position you set is reproduced at the engine end.

-   Increasing effort needed at the control head to shift or open the throttle
-   Shift going through neutral with a clunk, or hunting for engagement
-   Slack that has to be taken up at the trunnion again a few hours after adjustment
-   Chafe marks, flattened sections or a cut outer where the cable passes a bulkhead
-   Threaded end fitting seized, bent or stripped when the adjustment is disturbed
