## 🔌 Function

Carries movement from the helm control head to the engine's throttle lever or the reversing gear's shift lever, pushing and pulling a sliding inner wire inside a fixed outer conduit so that the lever position you set is reproduced at the engine end.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

-   Throttle or shift lever feels heavy and notchy where it used to move smoothly
-   Gear will not engage fully, or the throttle does not drop cleanly back to idle
-   Lost travel at the lever before the engine or gearbox answers it
-   Outer conduit kinked, chafed or split, with rust weeping from an end fitting
-   Inner wire found dry, corroded or seized in the conduit once it is withdrawn

## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Measure the run in as straight a line as you can from the control mechanism to the engine or transmission connection, allow a 200 mm radius for every bend, and take the longer cable if the figure falls between two listed lengths - the cables must not be cut to size
-   The Xact range runs from 3 ft (21407218) to 49 ft (21407262), one number per foot, so check the number against the measured length before ordering
-   The standard cable in the same 47 ft length is 21633518 - check which range the control head and engine bracket were set up for before moving between the two
-   Select the exact cable length: fewer bends mean better operation and durability
-   Measure in as straight a line as possible between the control mechanism and the engine or transmission connection, and allow a radius of 200 mm for every bend, so length = A + B + 200 mm
-   If the measurement falls between two standard lengths, select the longer cable
-   A single engine installation requires two cables and a twin installation requires four
