-   Inspect the surfaces the rollers run on for scoring, pitting and flat spots before fitting; a marked track will destroy a new set
-   Pre-lubricate the rollers on assembly with the grease or oil grade specified in the workshop manual for your engine rather than relying on the first run to reach them
-   Turn the assembly through by hand once built up and feel for roughness, drag or tight spots before it goes back into service
