## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Assemble the thrust washer, cone and any spacers in the order the manual gives onto a clean, undamaged thread — the propeller is clamped by the whole assembly, not held by the nut alone
-   Tighten to the figure given in the workshop manual for your drive; a nut merely nipped up lets the propeller work on the shaft and ruins the hub and the taper
-   Fit a new locking device where one is used — a lock or tab washer bent onto the flats, or a new split pin — and never reuse one that has already been bent
-   Renew the nut if the thread is stretched, galled or corroded, or if the locking tabs or their seats are damaged; a corroded nut is also the reason a propeller will not come off next time
-   Check the nut and its locking after the first run and at every haul-out — a slack propeller nut is a common cause of vibration and of lost propellers
