## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Check and set the alignment of the engine and drive before and after fitting a flexible coupling — it absorbs vibration and a small amount of misalignment, it does not correct a driveline that is out of line
-   Handle the rubber elements carefully and keep them clear of oil, fuel and solvents, which soften and swell rubber and shorten its life dramatically
-   Fit the coupling as a complete unit, use new locking hardware wherever the workshop manual for your engine specifies it, and tighten the fasteners to the figures in that manual
-   Turn the driveline over by hand after assembly and check that it runs true, with no binding and no excessive free play
-   Inspect the coupling whenever the drive is separated for any other reason; the rubber is the part that ages, and planned replacement is far cheaper than a failure at sea
