## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

-   Belt running off-centre on the pulley, or wearing on one edge
-   Squeal or chirp from the compressor drive, worst on load changes
-   Rumble or growl from the clutch bearing as it takes the side load
-   Pulley faces visibly out of line when checked with a straightedge
-   The shim itself found fretted, dished or picked up on strip-down

## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Shims are selected on measurement, not by copying what came out - measure the assembly and choose the thickness that brings the drive into line
-   Check the clutch bearing and the belt at the same time, since a misaligned drive will have been loading both
