## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Fit rubber rings new; one that has been compressed and heat-cycled has taken a set and will neither seal nor grip properly again
-   Clean the groove or seat and check it is free of burrs, salt and old sealant before fitting
-   Lubricate lightly, using something compatible with the fluid the joint carries — the wrong lubricant swells or hardens rubber
-   Ease the ring into place by hand rather than with a screwdriver or pick, as a nicked ring will leak
-   Make sure the ring is not twisted, pinched or trapped as the parts come together, and check the joint is dry after a run up to working temperature
