-   Make up terminations with the correct crimping tool and seal them against moisture; clean the stud and terminal faces to bright metal before assembly
-   Tighten terminal nuts firmly without crushing the lug, then protect the finished connection against salt-laden air
-   Route power cable away from sensitive signal and sensor wiring where practical, and never leave a length lying in the bilge
