# 22284630 Heat Shield | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Exhaust heat shield used on TAD1140VE, TAD1141VE and TAD1142VE engines. It is secured with flange screw 996457 and shields nearby components from manifold and turbocharger heat.

## 🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

- Volvo Penta TAD1150-52VE
- Volvo Penta TAD1140-42VE

- **Engine Family:** TAD

## ⚙️ Key Features

- Exact TAD1140-TAD1142VE fitment
- Formed exhaust heat barrier
- Factory mounting profile
- Uses flange screw 996457
- Protects wiring, hoses and service areas
- Engine type: 11-litre 6-cylinder turbocharged industrial diesel

## 🔌 Function

Limits radiant exhaust heat reaching surrounding engine components.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Rattling or loose shield
- Cracked mounting points
- Heat damage nearby
- Shield contact with exhaust
- Missing screw or spacer

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Fit heat shields before anything else is routed near the exhaust, and check there is clear air space between the shield and every hose, cable, fuel line and belt
- Renew any insulation, gaskets, spacers or standoffs supplied with the shield; a shield clamped flat onto a hot surface loses much of its effect
- Tighten the fixings evenly and only to the figure in the workshop manual for your engine — the tabs and brackets are thin and distort easily
- Never run the engine with a shield missing or loose: bare exhaust surfaces are a fire risk in an engine space and a burn risk to anyone working alongside
- Check the shield and its fasteners whenever the exhaust is disturbed, as vibration works them loose and a rattling shield soon cracks at its mounting tabs
