## 🔌 Function

Preheats engine coolant before starting to improve cold-start reliability and reduce warm-up wear.

## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   The cooling system must be filled and properly vented before the heater is switched on — energising the element in a dry or air-locked jacket will burn it out
-   Isolate the shore supply and let the engine cool before removing or fitting a heater, and drain enough coolant to work below the heater opening
-   Renew the sealing ring or gasket at the opening and tighten to the figure in the workshop manual for your engine
-   Inspect the element for scale and the housing for corrosion; a heavily scaled element runs hot and will fail again
-   Have the electrical connection made off correctly and protected, fed from a properly earthed and protected shore supply, and check the cable and connector for damage each season
