-   Seal the joints where the housing meets the block and the sump exactly as the manual specifies — those corners are a common source of oil weeps
-   Renew the crankshaft rear seal while the access is open rather than refitting an old one, and check its running surface at the same time
-   Confirm the housing bore and face run true to the crankshaft before hanging a gearbox or drive on it; a housing out of alignment will destroy couplings and bearings
