## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Offer the pipe up and check it reaches both connections freely before you tighten anything — a rigid pipe pulled into place is a pipe left under permanent strain, and strained pipes crack at the fittings in service
-   Renew the sealing washers, O-rings or union seals that go with the pipe rather than reusing the old ones, and make sure the seats, faces and threads are clean
-   Keep the ends capped while you work and blow or flush a pipe through before fitting; anything left inside goes straight into the oil, fuel or coolant system
-   Tighten unions and banjo bolts evenly to the figures in the workshop manual for your engine — overtightening distorts the seat and starts the leak you were trying to cure
-   Refit every clip and support bracket in its original place and keep the pipe clear of hot or moving parts so it cannot chafe or be shaken to failure
