Two sensors are used on applicable V-engine installations to detect the characteristic block vibration produced by abnormal combustion. Converts engine-block vibration into an electrical signal. The ECM analyses this signal for detonation and retards ignition timing when necessary to reduce knock and protect internal engine components.
