Volvo Penta water resistant grease is a special grease for marine environments, especially suitable for salt water applications. It lubricates, seals and protects against corrosion, and withstands long-term high loading without any deterioration in its protective properties. The grease is solid and water-resistant, for use in rubber packing boxes, greasing propeller shafts, folding propellers and all other propeller components. ## 🔌 Function

Lubricates bearings, splines, packing boxes and pivots in wet locations, resisting the washout that would carry an ordinary grease away.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

-   Grease washed out of a bearing or spline, leaving it dry
-   Rust or fretting marks on splines and bearing tracks
-   Water emulsified into the grease, showing as a milky paste
-   Cartridge found separated, with oil bled out of the thickener
-   Seals or gaiters passing water into a greased joint

## 🛠️ Service Notes

-   Check your gun takes a 400 g cartridge before ordering, as the pack format is part of the identification
-   Purge the old grease right through rather than adding to it where the joint has taken water
-   The propeller shaft should be cleaned and re-greased at least once a year and whenever the propeller is changed
