## 🔌 Function

Forms part of the air shutter in the inlet system, closing across the inlet path to block the flow of air to the engine when it is operated.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Shutter feels stiff or sticky, or does not return to its rest position
- Shutter no longer closing fully or sealing across the inlet
- Whistle or an air leak at the shutter housing
- Pivot or spindle found worn, seized or binding on strip-down
- Soot and oily deposits built up around the shutter face

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Prove the shutter moves freely through its full travel rather than assuming it will operate when it is called on
- Check parts list for your engine before ordering - this is one component of the shutter, not the whole assembly
