# 23996586 Air Cleaner | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta air cleaner from the Inlet and Exhaust System group, weighing 73.20 kg and listed for one TWD series engine application. At over 70 kg this is the complete housing rather than a serviceable element - inserts 23996590 and 23996593 are the replaceable filters inside it.

## 🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

- Volvo Penta TWD1683VE

- **Engine Family:** TWD

## ⚙️ Key Features

- Complete air cleaner housing
- 73.20 kg
- Listed for one TWD series engine application
- Takes filter inserts 23996590 and 23996593
- A hoisted lift and a freight item at over 73 kg

## 🔌 Function

Houses the intake filtration, taking combustion air in through the body and passing it on to the turbocharger only after it has been through the elements inside.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Intake restriction still high after new elements have been fitted
- Dust or a dust track found on the clean side of the housing
- Body corroded or split, or the seams weeping
- Element seal faces distorted so a new insert will not seat
- Latches, clamps or the cover seal perished so the housing no longer closes tight

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Change the inserts before condemning the housing - 23996590 is the primary element and 23996593 the smaller safety element
- Check the ducting between housing and turbocharger for leaks; dust drawn in downstream is what usually damages an engine
- At over 73 kg this is a planned lift and a freight consignment, not a hand-carry
