## 🔌 Function

Forms the threaded fuel connection on a component, giving the union something to seal against and carrying the fuel through its bore.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Diesel weeping at the union, or a fuel smell
- Air drawn in at the joint, giving hard starting or hunting
- Bore restricted with debris or varnish
- Sealing face nicked or scored, or the thread damaged
- Nipple loose in the component, or the thread stripped

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Renew the sealing washer at the union rather than reusing it
- Check the bore is clear before fitting, and tighten to the specified figure - a fuel nipple is easily distorted by over-tightening
