## ⚙️ Key Features

- 2-pole alternator
- 24 V, 120 A output
- Listed for 12 D series engine applications
- A 28 V 120 A unit is catalogued separately

## 🔌 Function

Driven by the engine belt, it generates the charging current that keeps the batteries topped up and runs the vessel's electrical loads while the engine is running.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Battery warning lamp lit or charge voltage low at the panel
- Batteries flat after a normal run
- Squealing or a burnt rubber smell from a slipping belt
- Growl or rumble from the alternator bearings
- Brushes, slip rings or diodes found worn or failed on strip-down

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Pole count, system voltage and output are all part of the specification - a 28 V installation needs the 28 V unit, not this one
- Check belt tension, the battery isolator and the main charge cable connections before condemning the alternator
