-   The back-up sacrificial anodes stay part of the arrangement even with an active protection system running; keep inspecting and renewing them normally, because they are what protects the drive if the system drops out.
-   Isolate the batteries before disconnecting the unit, and check the connectors and earth points for corrosion while it is apart — poor connections give faults that look like a failed unit.
