# 24167938 Propeller Kit | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta propeller kit from the Marine Propulsion group. No diameter, pitch, hand, blade count, drive type or propeller designation is published against this number - Volvo Penta's own listing carries the name alone, and the number does not appear in the published propeller guide - so the propeller this kit supplies cannot be identified from the listing and should be confirmed with your dealer against your drive and engine. 24167939 is the adjacent number in the same block and nothing published separates the two.

## ⚙️ Key Features

- Genuine Volvo Penta part 24167938
- Listed under Marine Propulsion
- No diameter, pitch, hand or propeller type published against this number
- 24167939 is the neighbouring kit number in the same block

## 🔌 Function

Converts the engine's torque into thrust. Volvo Penta matches propellers to the drive and the engine rather than to the boat alone: Duoprop and IPS installations run counter-rotating front and rear propellers that work as a pair, and the company's propeller guide is explicit that propellers of the same type and size must be used on a drive, and on both drives of a twin installation.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Vibration felt through the hull that worsens as speed rises
- The engine reaching its rev limit without the boat reaching its usual speed, or refusing to rev out at all
- Nicked, bent or curled blade edges after touching the bottom or picking up debris
- Pitting and erosion across the blade faces, the signature of cavitation
- The engine revving freely while thrust falls away, which points at the hub rather than the blades

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Check the drive anodes and the propeller shaft seals while the propeller is off - it is the easiest access you will get to them all season
- Volvo Penta's propeller guide warns against mixing propeller types on a drive and calls for the same type and size on both drives of a twin installation, so replace in matched sets rather than singly
- Have your dealer identify the propeller against your drive and engine, since the listing holds nothing to identify it by
