# 24719436 Bilge Pump | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta bilge pump, part number 24719436, from the Industrial and Marine Equipment group. A bilge pump sits at the lowest point of the hull and lifts collected water out through the discharge line, usually under the command of a float or level switch so that it runs on its own when water rises. Volvo Penta's own parts listing carries the name alone: no rating, no dimension and no engine application are published against this number, so match the flow, supply voltage and hose size to the pump already installed before ordering.

## ⚙️ Key Features

- Bilge pump, from the industrial and marine equipment group
- No flow rate, supply voltage or hose size is published against this number
- No switch, hose or fitting is listed as part of the number
- Match it to the pump and hose already fitted, or to the parts list for the boat

## 🔌 Function

Lifts water collected in the bilge and discharges it overboard through the discharge line.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Water standing in the bilge while the pump can be heard running
- Pump silent when switched on, or when the float is lifted by hand
- Pump running on and on, or cycling repeatedly, with no water present
- Flow down to a trickle, or a rattle and buzz from debris caught in the impeller
- The fuse or breaker for the pump circuit tripping each time it is called

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Check the float switch, the discharge hose and the non-return valve before condemning the pump; all three give trouble more often than the motor does
- Clear the strum box or strainer and make sure the discharge loop still stands above the waterline, so the pump is not lifting water it has already pumped
