Genuine Quicksilver Lower-Unit Oil Seal - Part Number: 26-161622

  

A genuine Quicksilver oil seal used in the lower-unit water-pump, pump-case or bearing-carrier assembly of selected Mercury and Mariner small-horsepower outboards.

  

The seal fits around the applicable shaft within the gear housing and separates the lubricated gearcase from the surrounding water. It is also used on corresponding Tohatsu and Nissan outboards under part number 346-65013-0.

🔌 Function

  

The seal retains gear lubricant around the applicable shaft and prevents water entering the lower-unit bearing and gear cavity.

  

Common signs of failure:

  

• Gear lubricant leaking from the bearing-carrier or pump-case area

• Milky or water-contaminated lower-unit oil

• Gearcase fails pressure or vacuum testing

• Fishing line or corrosion damages the sealing lip

• Oil seal found hardened or split during lower-unit servicing
