🔌 Function

  

The turbocharger increases intake manifold pressure so the engine receives sufficient air for the programmed fuel quantity across the operating-speed range.

  

Common signs of turbocharger failure:

  

• Engine will not reach rated rpm

• Vessel acceleration and top speed are reduced

• Excessive black exhaust smoke

• Blue smoke and increased oil consumption

• Turbocharger whine, siren or scraping noise

• Oil contamination inside the compressor outlet

• Excessive turbo shaft movement

• Boost-pressure or air-mass diagnostic faults
