The K27 turbocharger is designed for the 5.5-litre six-cylinder D6 common-rail engine family. It uses exhaust-gas flow to compress intake air before the charge-air cooler, supporting rated power, combustion efficiency and controlled exhaust temperature.

🔌 Function

  

The turbocharger supplies compressed air to the charge-air cooler and intake manifold, allowing the D6 engine to produce rated torque and horsepower without excessive exhaust smoke or temperature.

  

Common signs of turbocharger failure:

  

• Reduced vessel acceleration

• Engine will not reach rated rpm

• Low boost-pressure readings

• Heavy black smoke under load

• Blue smoke or oil consumption

• High exhaust temperature

• Whistling, siren or metallic contact noise

• Oil inside the compressor or exhaust housings

• Excessive shaft end float or radial movement

  

Installation considerations:

  

• Confirm the original turbocharger data plate

• Replace the engine oil and filter

• Inspect the oil-pressure feed and gravity-drain lines

• Clean the charge-air cooler and intake pipework

• Check the exhaust elbow and wet-exhaust system for restriction

• Inspect the air filter and crankcase ventilation system

• Prime the turbo bearing housing before first start

• Renew the mounting gasket set and oil-line sealing washers

• Check boost pressure after installation under loaded operating conditions
