## 🔌 Function

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Deep rumbling knock from low in the engine, worst under load
- Oil pressure falling away as bearing clearances open up
- Journals scored, ovalled or discoloured blue
- Metal glitter in the oil or caught on the filter element
- A crack found at a fillet radius on inspection

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Have the journals measured and the crank crack-tested before choosing between regrind and replacement
