# 3839414 Cylinder Head | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta cylinder head from the Engine group, weighing 232 kg and listed for one application on a D series engine. It supersedes part number 3830742. At 232 kg this is a crane lift, not a manual one, and the published weight is high enough that it should be checked against the head being replaced before ordering.

## 🚤 Compatibility

Typically suits:

- Volvo Penta D12C-A MP

- **Engine Family:** D

## ⚙️ Key Features

- Supersedes 3830742
- 232 kg — mechanical lifting equipment essential
- One listed D series application
- Engine group major component

## 🔌 Function

Closes the top of the cylinders and carries the valve gear, ports and injector seats, containing combustion pressure while passing coolant and gas through its passages.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Coolant loss with no external leak, or bubbling in the expansion tank
- White smoke or a sweet smell from the exhaust
- Compression down on one or more cylinders
- Oil and coolant mixing
- Cracking or corrosion found around the valve seats or injector bores

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Plan a hoist and a spreader or lifting eyes before starting — 232 kg cannot be handled by hand
- Check the block face for flatness and cleanliness, and renew the head gasket, head bolts and all disturbed seals
- Confirm the quoted 232 kg against the head being replaced, as the figure suggests a very large assembly
