## ⚙️ Key Features

- 0.12 kg
- Supersedes 3840819
- Engine group
- 15 applications across D-series engines

## 🔌 Function

Seals the piston to the cylinder wall, holding combustion pressure above the piston and controlling the oil film below it.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Blue smoke from the exhaust, worst on load or after idling
- Oil consumption climbing between services
- Crankcase breather blowing heavily
- Compression down on one or more cylinders
- Ring grooves carboned up or the rings stuck in their grooves

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Check the bore for wear and glazing before fitting new rings - rings alone will not cure a worn liner
- Check ring end gaps and groove clearances against the manual figures and stagger the gaps as specified on assembly
