# 3861348 Grommet | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta grommet, part number 3861348, listed in the Marine Propulsion group. It protects a cable or pipe where it passes through a panel, so the edge cannot chafe through it, and closes the hole around it. Volvo Penta publishes no fitment, dimensions or assembly detail against this number, so check it against the parts list for your own engine before ordering.

## ⚙️ Key Features

- Genuine Volvo Penta grommet
- Marine Propulsion group
- Protects a cable or pipe passing through a panel
- No fitment or dimensions published against this number — check it against the parts list for your engine

## 🔌 Function

Protects a cable or pipe where it passes through a panel, so the edge cannot chafe through it, and closes the hole around it.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Perished, split or hardened rubber, or a grommet that has pushed out of its hole
- Chafed insulation, worn pipe or a cut cable where it passes through a bulkhead or casing
- Water, damp or oil tracking through the opening the grommet is meant to seal
- A cable or pipe that rattles or moves where it should be held firmly

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Renew the grommet whenever the cable, pipe or shaft it seals is disturbed; old rubber takes a set and will not seal or grip again
- Check that the hole or bore is clean, free of burrs and undamaged — a sharp edge will cut a new grommet
- Ease the grommet in with clean water or the correct rubber lubricant, not with oil, grease or fuel, unless the assembly is oil-wetted by design
- Make sure the grommet is fully home all round with the cable or pipe centred in it, so nothing is left bearing on the edge of the hole
