# 425951 Oil Cooler | Genuine Volvo Penta Part

## 🔧 Product Description

Genuine Volvo Penta oil cooler weighing 4.571 kg and listed for 4 applications across THD and DH series engines. It is the larger of the two coolers here, with 465854 at 2.465 kg covering TWD, TID and TD engines. ## ⚙️ Key Features

- 4.571 kg
- 4 applications across THD and DH series engines
- Larger than oil cooler 465854, which weighs 2.465 kg
- Raw-water cooled heat exchanger

## 🔌 Function

Passes engine oil across a coolant or seawater circuit to hold oil temperature down, protecting the oil film at high load.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Oil temperature running high, with oil pressure falling when hot
- Oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil, giving a milky emulsion
- Weeping or crusted salt deposits around the cooler end covers
- Cooler externally furred or internally silted, so it no longer sheds heat
- Engine coolant loss with no visible external leak

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Pressure test before condemning the cooler, since an oil-and-coolant mix can come from elsewhere
- Renew all the end cover seals and o-rings when the cooler is disturbed
- Fit a fresh oil filter and change the oil after any internal cross-contamination
