## ⚙️ Key Features

- 10.135 kg and bulky, so freight rather than parcel carriage
- Supersedes 3828663 and 3837120
- 49 applications across TWD, TID, TD, D and TAD engines
- Inlet and Exhaust System group

## 🔌 Function

Silences the exhaust pulse by expanding and absorbing the gas energy inside baffled chambers before it leaves the system.

## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Exhaust much louder than usual, or a new rasp or drumming
- Soot streaks or black staining at the seams and joints
- Rust holes or perforated shell, especially on the underside
- Rattle or clatter from broken internal baffles
- Back pressure high with sluggish running and smoke

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- Renew the exhaust gaskets, clamps and hangers with the muffler, as old fixings usually shear on removal
- Support the weight properly on refitting so the flanges are not carrying the load
- Two old numbers, 3828663 and 3837120, both come to this muffler, so either can be replaced with it
