🔌 Function

  

The anode provides sacrificial corrosion protection for the outboard mounting bracket and nearby submerged aluminium components. It is designed to corrode before the protected engine parts.

  

Common signs of failure:

  

• Anode has lost approximately half of its original mass

• Surface is deeply pitted or heavily eroded

• Anode is painted, coated or electrically isolated

• White oxidation or corrosion forms around the mounting bracket

• Mounting bolts become loose or the anode breaks away
