## ⚠️ Common Signs of Failure

- Oil weeping down the side of the cylinder head from the cover joint
- Oil pooling in the gallery around the cover
- Cover cracked, or a fixing boss broken
- Sealing face distorted from over-tightening
- Smell of hot oil after a run

## 🛠️ Service Notes

- 78490819 is the other valve cover in this range and they are not interchangeable, so order by part number
- Renew the cover gasket and any sealing washers, and tighten evenly to the specified figure rather than hard
- Clean the crankcase breather path while the cover is off, as pressure behind a blocked breather pushes oil out at this joint
